Feels good

Well today was the day. My hair is gone. Vicki flew in, and when she got here we had a hair party. The kids and Mike and Vicki and I started by pulling. I leaned over the trashcan I let everybody pull out as much hair as they wanted from my head. This reminds me of a pork pull, but it wasn't exactly the same thing. It was more like a taffy pull, or mommy pull. Everyone got to yank out 48,000 tufts of hair. Including me. It was kind of fun.

The little one got freaked out and ran out of the room.

We then resorted to Mike's clunky old clipper thing that works sort of. I channeled Britney Spears and tried to suavely mow a swatch down a little of my head, it didn't work terribly well. It was very uneven. Everyone took turns going over it many many many times.

I still have some bizarre patches everywhere. It feels really good though. I have a dolphin ridge on the top of my head, possibly due to my superior intelligence (joke). Kind of cool in an alien-esque sort of way.

So now I have a few little patches of longer hair, with a bunch of almost gone hair. It feels nice. Prickly. If I rub it in the wrong direction feels like people are sticking slivers of glass into my skin. So I don't do that.

I'm glad that this stage is gone, and it actually feels pretty good. Not sure what kind of hats or scarves I'll be wearing, right now I'm just letting it be.

A few hours to chemo, I'm on steroids and all kinds of other drugs so I feel pretty good right now. See you on the other side.

  2. Surprised but happy you went ahead and shaved your head. My sister and I helped my mom when she was going thru this same thing. You look amazing with or without hair.

  3. Amy, I think you are awesome!!! Who else would let her family pull her hair out and declare it fun?! But I bet is was! And now you don't have to worry about the shedding : ) Plus truly you do look cute. Although I hope you'll don a scarf or hat in this cold weather. So glad Vicki is there for you tomorrow. Sending love and hugs your way.

    1. Since it is so not very even right now my head looks like a weird planet with screwy continents, so I will be wearing a scarf or a hat d at least for a few days until it looks less freaky

  4. Without the hair, the focus is on your lovely face. You are beautiful. I hope this helps to reduce the discomfort soon.

    1. You are too kind, but I love it. I wonder what Hat I Will wear tomorrow. It's kind of cold so I'm thinking some kind of snuggly hat. I have them all in the basket in my room and it's A lot of fun to try them all on. Thanks again for the mad Hatter party.

  8. You are one sexy chick! Hair, schmair.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I have a meeting that will be getting done right as you get started. I will pause and breathe and send you good energy and prayers. You've got those malignant cells on the run and are about to give them another beating. I want the white horse guy to sweep the good cells off their feet and gallop with them to a safe place where they can look down from above it all and see the poison coursing along carrying the malignancy with it, while remaining untouched by it.
